Be Asbestos Aware in 2018 – Have Professional Training
21 Dec 2017
The law in Ireland requires that employees who are likely to become exposed to asbestos in the course of their daily work are given adequate training in how to safely deal with it if they do. At OHSS Safety Consultants, we are, amongst other numerous occupational safety disciplines, we are very experienced experts when it comes to asbestos safety and we have a long track record in delivering effective training on the dangers present in asbestos removal and asbestos disposal.
We conduct Dublin-based open training on a regular basis and also accept bookings for privately arranged courses by request. The ‘Asbestos Awareness Training & Low Risk Handling’ course involves all aspects of compliance with the 2013 HSA Guidelines on ACM Management and Abatement and is ideal primarily for those in the following roles:
The course was designed in accordance with asbestos regulations set down in the Safety, Health and Work Act, which was created to protect employees likely to encounter dust containing harmful airborne asbestos fibres.
Despite the existence of Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) in many of the buildings that predate the point at which the substance was banned under Irish law, many organisations and local authorities have failed to identify much of the ACM that surely resides there. This has led to the inadvertent discovery of the harmful material on a regular basis, putting workers and building occupants at major risk. This situation is unacceptable and is, indeed a scenario that breaches legal requirements.
The 1 day course mentioned above will increase the awareness of those attending in the correct procedures in handling asbestos and by the end, they will be conversant with all of the aspects involved with dealing with ACM.
