Employers Requirements

Employers are required to ensure the safety of their employers from the use of any substance or article. Employees can be exposed to chemical agents through three main routes: skin contact, ingestion, and inhalation.

While exposures by skin absorption and ingestion are relatively easily recognised and controlled, the evaluation of inhalation hazards is more complex.

Chemical exposure monitoring (of airborne vapours or particles of hazardous chemicals) may be needed to confirm whether specific hazardous chemicals are present and to determine if the concentration presents a health risk to employees.

OHSS can identify potential for airborne exposures, conduct air sampling to determine whether the concentration is likely to pose a health risk and recommend measures if it does.

All our monitoring is conducted in accordance with HSE / HSA and international guidelines.
